Job summary

Randstad CPE seeks an experienced lead for a dedicated section of civil works near Peterhead. You will manage a team of Section and Site Engineers, owning engineering delivery, safe systems of work, and QA.

You will coordinate productivity programming and subcontractor management reporting to site management. Essential qualifications include CSCS, SSSTS/SMSTS, and a full UK driving license, with a background in major civil infra projects and strong H&S RAMS expertise.

Qualifications

• Valid CSCS Card, SSSTS or SMSTS, and a full UK driving license.
• Strong background leading engineering teams on major civil infrastructure projects (Earthworks, Drainage, Pavement, Comms, Structures, or Roadworks).
• Good working knowledge of current H&S legislation, incident investigation processes, RAMS creation, and handover certification.
• Professional accreditation (e.g., ICE or IHT) is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead site safety with a Zero Harm focus and coach engineers.
• Review and improve RAMS, permits (Confined Space & Hot Works), and temporary works.
• Produce fully resourced stage programmes and track KPIs.
• Manage subcontractor performance and procurement, and draft formal commercial correspondence.

Shift hours

7 am to 7 pm, Monday to Friday. The first 42 hours are paid at the normal rate; everything after that is paid at 1.25. Candidates are also required to work one Saturday a month from 7am to 13:00 pm

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced to lead and control a dedicated section of works near Peterhead. Reporting to senior site management, you will lead a team of Section Engineers and Site Engineers, taking full ownership of engineering delivery, safe systems of work, quality assurance, productivity programming, and subcontractor management.

Key Responsibilities

Lead site safety with a Zero Harm focus, manage and coach engineers, and review/improve RAMS, permits (including Confined Space & Hot Works), and temporary works implementations.

Incident & Safety Management

Lead accident/incident investigations, conduct site/field audits, and carry out trend analysis to drive continuous safety improvements.

Planning & Productivity

Produce fully resourced stage programmes, track KPIs, establish graphical progress monitors, and ensure alignment between section and short-term lookahead schedules.

Commercial & Subcontractor Management

Maintain detailed site diaries, manage subcontractor performance/procurement, monitor weekly costs against section budgets, and draft formal commercial correspondence.

Strong background leading engineering teams on major civil infrastructure projects (e.g., Earthworks, Drainage, Pavement, Comms, Structures, or Roadworks).
