Job summary

Jackson Civil Engineering is recruiting a Sub Agent for the Northern Region, initially on a Sea Defence Improvement Scheme in Stallingborough. The role focuses on supporting the Site Agent, managing site teams and sub-contractors, and delivering projects to programme and budget.

The ideal candidate has extensive experience with civil engineering projects, highways/river works, and NEC contracts. A valid UK driving licence, SMSTS, and First Aid at Work are preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience working for a main contractor on civil engineering projects.
• Strong background in highways and river works.
• Effective communication and ability to motivate site teams.
• Experience with NEC forms of contract is essential.

Responsibilities

• Support the Site Agent/Project Manager in executing duties and managing smaller contracts.
• Manage site staff, operatives and sub-contractors.
• Prepare method statements, RAMS and project management plans.
• Monitor budgets and tender allowances against contracts.
• Prepare and monitor programmes of work.
• Engage and assess sub-contractors; manage design co-ordination.
• Ensure timely, profitable contract completion and stakeholder engagement.

We are now recruiting for an experienced Sub Agent for our Northern Region, initially working on a Sea Defence Improvement Scheme in Stallingborough.

Main Duties of the Sub Agent:

• Support the Site Agent or Project Manager in the execution of his duties, and management of smaller construction contracts.
• Management of site staff operatives and sub-contractors.
• Provide method statements, hazard risk assessments and project management plans.
• Understand tender allowances and monitor contract costs against agreed budgets.
• Preparing and monitoring programmes of work.
• Assessment and engagement of sub-contractors.
• Manage design co-ordination.
• Manage contracts to ensure timely and profitable completion of contracts.
• Inform, consult, and involve local groups as necessary.
• Foster good relations and reputation with clients.

Are you the Sub Agent we are looking for?

We are looking for someone with a positive, proactive attitude who is ambitious, flexible and enjoys working as part of a team.

The successful candidate will have experience working for a main contractor on civil engineering projects, with a strong background in highways and river works.

You will be an effective communicator with the ability to manage and motivate site teams, delegate responsibilities appropriately and organise both your own workload and that of others to ensure projects are delivered safely and efficiently.

Experience working under NEC forms of contract is essential, along with a relevant industry qualification and a valid SMSTS (or equivalent) qualification.

Due to the nature of the role, the successful candidate must be willing to travel throughout our Southern Region and hold a full UK driving licence. A First Aid at Work qualification would be advantageous.
