Job summary

Responsibilities

• Support the Site Agent and Project Manager with day-to-day site activities.
• Coordinate construction activities and subcontractors across areas.
• Ensure works are delivered safely, on time and to programme.
• Monitor subcontractor performance, productivity and progress.
• Ensure compliance with National Grid standards and site requirements.
• Review drawings, specifications, RAMS and method statements.
• Coordinate labour, plant, materials and site resources.
• Provide progress updates to the Site Agent and PM.
• Identify delays/risks and assist with solutions.
• Support inspections, quality checks and assurance activities.
• Lead or support toolbox talks and site briefings.
• Maintain accurate site records and documentation.
• Liaise with engineers, subcontractors and client reps.
• Support testing, commissioning and handover activities.

We are currently seeking an experienced Sub Agent to join a major energy infrastructure framework team in Derbyshire.

The successful candidate will have proven experience working on National Grid projects and electrical substations, with a strong background in site delivery, coordination and construction management within the power or utilities sector.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the Site Agent and Project Manager with the day-to-day delivery of site activities.
• Coordinate construction activities and subcontractors across designated areas of the project.
• Ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently and in accordance with the approved programme.
• Manage and monitor subcontractor performance, productivity and progress.
• Ensure construction activities comply with National Grid standards, specifications and site requirements.
• Review construction drawings, specifications, RAMS and method statements.
• Coordinate labour, plant, materials and other site resources.
• Monitor progress and provide regular updates to the Site Agent and Project Manager.
• Identify potential delays, risks and issues and assist with implementing appropriate solutions.
• Support site inspections, quality checks and assurance activities.
• Ensure all works are carried out in accordance with health, safety, quality and environmental requirements.
• Lead or support site briefings, toolbox talks and coordination meetings.
• Maintain accurate site records, diaries, progress reports and relevant documentation.
• Liaise with engineers, subcontractors, suppliers and client representatives.
• Support testing, commissioning and handover activities where required.

Essential Experience

• Proven experience as a Sub Agent / Assistant Site Manager / Site Supervisor within construction, energy, utilities or infrastructure.
• Previous National Grid experience is essential.
• Electrical substation experience is essential.
• Experience working on major power transmission or distribution projects.
• Strong understanding of construction delivery and site coordination.
• Experience managing and coordinating subcontractors and site teams.
• Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications and technical documentation.
• Strong understanding of health, safety, quality and environmental requirements.
• Excellent communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.
• Relevant construction/site management qualifications and certifications.

Desirable Experience

• Experience working on HV/EHV substation projects.
• Experience with National Grid procedures and standards.
• NEC contract experience.
• Experience supporting commissioning and energisation activities.
• Relevant CSCS, SMSTS or equivalent qualifications.
