Job summary

New College Swindon is seeking a dedicated Study Skills Coach to support students in developing study techniques, digital skills and confidence in a Learning Resource Centre.

The role involves one-to-one and group coaching, delivering workshops and creating resources in SharePoint, with engagement across North Star and Queens Drive campuses to enhance learner success.

Qualifications

  • Educated to Level 3, with Level 2 English and Maths.
  • Level 3 Teaching and Learning Support qualification.
  • Experience using learning management systems and SharePoint.
  • Experience coaching or mentoring learners.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to motivate learners from diverse backgrounds.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Understanding of different learning styles and barriers to learning.
  • Commitment to equality, inclusion and outstanding learner support.
  • Willingness to work across North Star and Queens Drive campuses.

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and group study skills coaching to improve learning and academic performance.
  • Develop and maintain study skills resources and online materials via SharePoint.
  • Promote study skills support through events, workshops and classroom engagement.
  • Assist learners in accessing learning resources, including books, laptops and digital materials.
  • Help learners navigate College systems and e-learning platforms.
  • Deliver engaging workshops on revision techniques, exam prep, note-taking and study habits.
  • Support learners to develop critical thinking and independent learning skills.
  • Maintain a positive, inclusive learning environment within the Learning Resource Centre.
  • Support day-to-day operation of the Learning Hub, respond to enquiries and referrals.
  • Maintain accurate records and collaborate with colleagues to support student success.

Are you passionate about helping students unlock their full potential?

We're looking for an enthusiastic and supportive Study Skills Coach to join our Learning Resource Centre (LRC) team. This is an exciting opportunity to help students develop the study skills, confidence and digital capabilities they need to succeed in their learning and achieve their ambitions.

Working within our Learning Hub, you'll provide one-to-one and group support, helping students access learning resources, improve their study techniques and make the most of the digital tools available to them. If you enjoy empowering others and creating an inclusive learning environment, we'd love to hear from you.

What you'll do:
  • Provide personalised study skills coaching to help students improve their learning and academic performance.
  • Develop and maintain study skills resources and online learning materials through SharePoint.
  • Promote study skills support across the College through events, workshops and classroom engagement.
  • Support students in accessing learning resources, including books, laptops, headphones and digital materials.
  • Help learners navigate College systems, online resources and e-learning platforms.
  • Deliver engaging workshops on topics such as revision techniques, assessment preparation, note-taking and effective study habits.
  • Support students to develop critical thinking, active reading and independent learning skills.
  • Help maintain a positive, inclusive and productive learning environment within the Learning Resource Centre.
  • Support the day-to-day operation of the Learning Hub, responding to enquiries and learner referrals.
  • Maintain accurate records and work collaboratively with colleagues to support student success and wellbeing.
What we're looking for:
  • Educated to Level 3, with Level 2 qualifications in English and Maths.
  • A Level 3 Teaching and Learning Support qualification.
  • Experience using learning management systems and resource platforms such as SharePoint.
  • Experience supporting, coaching or mentoring learners would be advantageous.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to motivate and inspire learners from a wide range of backgrounds.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • An understanding of different learning styles and barriers to learning.
  • A commitment to equality, inclusion and outstanding learner support.
  • A willingness to work across both the North Star and Queens Drive campuses as required.
Contract Information

Hours: 30 hours per week

Working Pattern: 52 weeks per year
