Job summary

Reform UK is seeking a hands-on Studio Engineer/Technical Producer to own the Westminster studio and live‑production infrastructure, ensuring reliability, superb sound, and support for long‑form, live and remote output across formats.

You will manage cameras, lighting, audio, recording, connectivity, streaming, and failover, turning editorial needs into repeatable workflows and staying calm under pressure during high‑profile productions.

Qualifications

  • Substantial practical experience engineering or operating professional studio or broadcast setups.
  • Hands-on competence with professional cameras, lenses, exposure, and multi-camera workflows.
  • Excellent audio knowledge: microphones, gain structure, mix-minus and monitoring.
  • Strong lighting knowledge: LED lighting, programmable states and control.
  • Experience with live contribution and streaming systems (LiveU, remote guests, intercom).
  • Ability to diagnose faults calmly during live production.
  • Strong organisational habits: documentation, checklists, maintenance, spares.
  • Excellent communication with producers, editors, presenters and engineers.
  • Willingness to work full-time from Westminster HQ, including evenings/weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Own day-to-day studio reliability and technical quality.
  • Take responsibility for the technical readiness of the Westminster studio before every major recording or event.
  • Operate and maintain cameras, lenses, lighting, audio, monitoring and recording systems.
  • Run pre-flight checks, rehearsals and acceptance processes to catch issues before transmission.
  • Troubleshoot calmly during live output to protect continuity and recordings.
  • Plan and test failover for connectivity, power and recording systems.
  • Document studio configurations, patching, presets and maintenance schedules.
  • Support both horizontal and vertical production, ensuring clean feeds and proper recording arrangements.
  • Collaborate with producers to translate editorial needs into safe, efficient technical setups.
