Job summary

Lift Unity City in Middlesbrough is looking for a Student Support Leader to join our pastoral team. You’ll support students in a year group with wellbeing, attendance and behaviour, building trusted relationships with students, families and colleagues.

The role involves working with teachers and the SEND team, developing support plans, monitoring progress and safeguarding needs, and using data to drive proactive strategies.

Qualifications

• GCSE Maths and English (Grade 4/C or above) or equivalent.
• Experience motivating young people and promoting high expectations.
• Strong data skills to analyse trends and drive action.
• Knowledge of safeguarding, child protection and the education sector.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building with students, families and professionals.
• Calm, confident behaviour management with de-escalation skills.

Responsibilities

• Support students with their wellbeing by providing proactive pastoral support and early intervention to help them feel included in school life.
• Work with teachers and families to create plans that help students succeed.
• Work with the SEND team and other agencies to provide the right support.
• Monitor behaviour, attendance and punctuality, identifying trends and implementing effective strategies.
• Act as a key worker for vulnerable and at risk students, including those with SEND or safeguarding needs.
• Use data systems to track, analyse and report on student progress, behaviour and pastoral trends.
