Job summary

Teaching Personnel is recruiting an experienced Pastoral Lead for a school in Dorchester. You will work to support student wellbeing, behaviour, attendance and personal development, building positive relationships with students and families.

The role requires strong communication, safeguarding awareness and the ability to implement targeted interventions, while working closely with staff and external professionals to remove barriers to learning.

Qualifications

• Experience in pastoral, safeguarding or student-support roles.
• Experience working with young people in education.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organisational and administrative skills.
• Calm, consistent and professional approach.
• Ability to build positive relationships with students.
• Commitment to safeguarding and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day pastoral support to students.
• Monitor and respond to attendance concerns.
• Support students experiencing barriers to learning.
• Monitor behaviour and implement appropriate interventions.
• Build strong, trusting relationships with students.
• Work closely with teachers and support staff.
• Communicate effectively with parents and carers.
• Support students with social, emotional and behavioural needs.
• Monitor individual student progress and wellbeing.
• Organise and deliver targeted pastoral interventions.
• Support students in developing positive attitudes towards education.
• Help identify safeguarding and welfare concerns and follow appropriate school procedures.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation.
• Contribute to meetings involving students, families and relevant professionals.
• Promote positive behaviour and high expectations across the school.
