Durham Student's Union is seeking a Student Voice Coordinator to support student leaders and volunteers across Durham University, with a dedicated faculty link and strong cross-institution relationships.

The role focuses on providing guidance, sharing resources, and influencing policy development to advance students' academic and social education, alongside engaging with elected officers and campus partners.

Qualifications

• Maintain excellent relationships with student leaders and volunteers in defined student communities across Durham University.
• Develop strong relationships with partners across Durham University to support student leaders and volunteers.
• Create and share insight, resources, and opportunities between student communities, Durham SU, Durham University, and others.
• Provide advice and recommendations on policy development within their area of responsibility to leaders, the Chief Executive, and the Board of Trustees.

Responsibilities

• Recruiting, inducting, training, supporting, coaching, mentoring, and managing student leaders and volunteers, as appropriate, to help them achieve their ambitions.
• Supporting a member of student staff to enhance project, PTO and Faculty-based work.
• Supporting student leaders and volunteers to undertake student activity consistent with strategy and plans.
• Maintaining Durham SU's research, policy, and campaigns expertise, in specific areas of higher education policy.
• Anticipating and responding to student leader and volunteer need.
• Promoting the good reputation of students and Durham SU.

Job Summary

Working as part of a team of four (each aligned to a Faculty of Durham University), the Student Voice Coordinator supports the work of Durham SU toinfluencestudents' academic-led formal education, and create opportunities to advance their social education,through effective lobbying, campaigning and support for student leaders and volunteers.

The Student Voice Coordinators have strong constructive relationships with key partners across Durham University to progress this work, as well as direct links to the elected Full & Part Time Officers at the SU.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

Student Voice Coordinators are responsible for the effective support of student leaders and volunteers, with a particular focus on their dedicated Faculty link.

Student Voice Coordinators:

• Maintain excellent relationships with student leaders and volunteers in defined student communities across Durham University, in academic and representative roles, and in societies and student groups.

• Have strong constructive relationships with partners across Durham University, who are part of ensuring student leaders and volunteers get excellent support.

• Create and share insight, resources, and opportunities between student communities, Durham SU, Durham University, and other organisations, as appropriate.

• Provide advice and make recommendations on policy development within their area of responsibility, to student leaders and volunteers, the Chief Executive, and the Board of Trustees.

• Are excellent ambassadors for students and Durham SU.
