Job summary

Teaching Vacancies is seeking an inspirational Student Support Worker to support students academically, behaviourally and pastorally from November 2026. You will work within a team to promote positive attitudes, liaise with senior leaders and safeguarding teams, and deliver targeted 1:1 and group sessions.

The role involves working with families, using assessment data to meet academic targets and referring to external services when appropriate. A commitment to safeguarding is essential.

Qualifications

  • Provides academic, behavioural and pastoral support to students.
  • Promotes positive attitudes and behaviour within the academy.
  • Works as part of a team of Student Support Workers and liaises with senior leaders.

Responsibilities

  • Establish 1:1 and group support sessions for students.
  • Identify student support needs from initial sessions and plan appropriate support.
  • Support students with areas including anger, anxiety, resilience, bullying and wellbeing.
  • Collaborate with families and lead meetings to create action plans.
  • Use assessment data to support students toward academic targets.
  • Make referrals to external services as needed.
  • Uphold safeguarding and determine escalation pathways as required.
  • Participate in multi-agency meetings and contribute to local risk assessments.
  • Contribute to anti-bullying initiatives and mentor peers.
