Job summary

Stamford Welland Academy is seeking a compassionate Student Support Assistant to join our pastoral team. You will support wellbeing, attendance and behaviour, building confidence and resilience in students.

You will work with students, families and staff to provide pastoral guidance, mentoring individuals and small groups, and help identify vulnerable students while safeguarding procedures are followed. This role is term-time plus seven days, 37 hours per week.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children or young people (desirable).
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations.
  • Organised and proactive with good record-keeping.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting students with their wellbeing, behaviour and attendance.
  • Providing mentoring and guidance to individuals and small groups.
  • Working with families to improve student engagement and outcomes.
  • Assisting in the identification and support of vulnerable students.
  • Supporting the implementation of pastoral and safeguarding procedures.
  • Monitoring student progress and maintaining accurate records.
  • Contributing to a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment.

Stamford Welland Academy is seeking a compassionate and motivated Student Support Assistant to join our committed pastoral team. About the role:

Salary: £25,372 - £28,444 per annum

Hours of work: 37 hours per week, 39 weeks of the year (term time plus 7 days)

The Opportunity:

As a Student Support Assistant, you will work closely with students, families, teaching staff and external agencies to provide pastoral support and guidance. You will build positive relationships with young people, helping them to develop confidence, resilience and the skills needed to succeed in school and beyond.

Key responsibilities will include:
