Job summary

Blackburn College is seeking an Attendance, Progress and Academic Skills Coach to support disadvantaged students and help remove barriers to academic progress. The role includes mentoring, ensuring high engagement with the Study Programme and collaborating with Tutor, Learning Support and Student Engagement teams.

Aligned with the English and Maths Department, the successful candidate will demonstrate excellent communication and the ability to build appropriate relationships with young people,

Qualifications

• Good standard of general education including Level 2 English and maths.
• Experience of, or aspiration towards working with young people.
• Flexibility, enthusiasm and the ability to relate well to staff and students.
• Ability to form and maintain appropriate relationships and personal boundaries with young people.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational abilities.

Responsibilities

• Support disadvantaged students to remove barriers to progress.
• Act as a mentor to promote high engagement across the Study Programme.
• Coordinate with Tutor team and Learning Support and Student Engagement teams.
• Deliver a personalised package of support for each student.
