Job summary

School of Coding & AI is seeking a proactive finance assistant to support the student finance journey in our Higher Education division. You will guide tuition fees, funding options, and payment plans while ensuring accurate records and timely payments.

You will collaborate with Admissions, Registry, Compliance and Academic teams to deliver a high-quality student experience, align with GDPR, and support enrollment periods with finance guidance.

Qualifications

  • Experience in finance administration, student finance, or a similar administrative role.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organisational skills with high attention to detail when handling financial data.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Office applications.
  • Experience using CRM or student management systems.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the first point of contact for student finance enquiries and provide clear guidance on tuition fees, payment options, instalment plans and financial policies.
  • Support students with tuition fee payments, outstanding balances, refunds, sponsorships and general finance-related queries.
  • Assist students in understanding funding options, including Student Finance England and other available support.
  • Maintain accurate student financial records using internal systems and ensure data is recorded correctly.
  • Monitor student accounts, identify outstanding balances, and support timely fee collection.
  • Process payments, refunds, adjustments, and financial transactions accurately and efficiently.
  • Collaborate with Admissions, Registry, Compliance, and Academic teams to keep student records up to date.
  • Produce reports using Excel and internal systems to monitor student accounts and finance activity.
  • Ensure compliance with institutional financial policies, GDPR, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support enrollment periods by providing finance guidance to new and continuing students.
  • Respond promptly to student enquiries via email, telephone, and face-to-face appointments.
  • Contribute to continuous improvements of student finance processes and reporting.

About The Role

This is a key role within our Higher Education Student Finance team. You will be responsible for supporting students with all aspects of their financial journey, ensuring they receive accurate advice and guidance on tuition fees, payment options, student funding, and financial policies throughout their studies.

You will act as the first point of contact for student finance enquiries, supporting students while working closely with Admissions, Registry, Compliance, and Academic teams to deliver an excellent student experience.

This role plays an important part in maintaining accurate student finance records, supporting fee collection processes, improving financial operations, and ensuring students are able to access the support they need to successfully continue their studies.

Key Responsibilities

Requirements
What We're Looking For

We are looking for an organised, proactive, and customer-focused individual who enjoys helping students while working in a busy Higher Education environment. You will be confident in managing multiple priorities, working accurately with financial information, and delivering excellent customer service.

Essential
  • Experience in finance administration, student finance, customer service, or a similar administrative role
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
  • High attention to detail and accuracy when working with financial data
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications
  • Experience using CRM, finance, or student management systems
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
Desirable
  • Experience working within Higher Education or Further Education
  • Knowledge of Student Finance England processes and tuition fee funding
  • Experience supporting students with financial enquiries
  • Understanding of SITS or other student records systems
