Job summary

Milk Education is currently working with a friendly primary school in Stockton that is looking for a committed Student Engagement Mentor to join their team from September.

Based in Redcar, this role offers pay of £107.71 per day and flexible hours (08:30-15:30, with full-time and part-time opportunities available). You will provide pastoral and mentoring support to pupils, helping them overcome barriers and engage in learning.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience with young children in schools, youth services, mentoring, or similar roles.
  • Experience supporting children with behavioural, SEMH, or additional educational needs.
  • Patient, understanding and resilient nature.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to encourage, motivate and positively influence young people.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and welfare of children.
  • Must live locally to Redcar; relocation not available.

Responsibilities

  • Provide pastoral and behavioural support to pupils.
  • Develop trusting relationships and mentor students one-to-one and in small groups.
  • Encourage participation in education and build self-confidence.
  • Collaborate with teachers and the school team to improve behaviour and wellbeing.
  • Support pupils in achieving positive educational outcomes.

Student Engagement Mentor

Are you a caring, enthusiastic individual who enjoys helping young people thrive? Milk Education is currently working with a friendly primary school in Stockton that is looking for a committed Student Engagement Mentor to join their team from September.

This is a fantastic opportunity to provide valuable support to pupils both within and beyond the classroom. You will help students overcome challenges that may affect their learning, encourage positive behaviour and attendance, and support them in reaching their full potential.

Student Engagement Mentor - Role Overview

As a Student Engagement Mentor, you will provide pastoral and behavioural support to pupils who may need additional guidance. You will develop strong, trusting relationships with students, encourage participation in education, and deliver one-to-one and small-group mentoring.

Your support will help pupils build self-confidence, resilience, emotional wellbeing, and a positive approach to school and learning.

You will work closely with teachers and the wider school team, contributing to a supportive school environment and helping improve behaviour, wellbeing, engagement, and educational outcomes.

This position would suit someone who has previous experience working with children in schools, youth services, mentoring, pastoral care, or similar support roles.

Student Engagement Mentor - Essential Criteria
  • Previous experience working with young children, preferably in a school, youth, mentoring, or support environment
  • Experience supporting children with behavioural, SEMH, or additional educational needs would be advantageous
  • A patient, understanding, and resilient nature
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • A strong commitment to safeguarding and the welfare of children and young people
