Job summary

Hednesford Valley High School in Cannock is seeking a committed Student Behaviour Support Officer to join the SEND and Inclusion team. You will support students facing barriers to learning, providing responsive and planned interventions, including work with the school therapy dog.

The role involves developing tailored interventions, collaboration with staff and external partners, and monitoring progress using Arbor. Driving licence and minibus training are advantageous.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or young people, including those with challenging behaviour.
• Ability to build positive and trusting relationships with young people.
• Calm, resilient, and able to respond to changing situations.
• Plan, deliver and evaluate targeted interventions for individual needs.

Responsibilities

• Respond to behaviour incidents and support reintegration into learning.
• Plan and deliver one-to-one and small-group interventions to improve behaviour, engagement and wellbeing.
• Deliver structured therapeutic and wellbeing interventions, including work involving the school therapy dog.
• Develop community-based interventions and partnerships to broaden opportunities for students.
• Monitor behaviour information (Arbor) and support intervention planning and evaluation.
• Support reintegration after suspension or absences.
• Collaborate with staff, SEND and external professionals to promote positive outcomes.
