Job summary

Prospero Teaching in Gravesend is seeking a compassionate Behaviour Mentor to join our school-based team. The role focuses on supporting students with behavioural, emotional and social challenges, helping them engage positively in learning and the school community.

You will work with teachers, parents and other professionals to develop and implement behaviour support plans, monitor progress and promote resilience and positive choices, including reintegration after challenging periods.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children and young people, preferably in SEN or behavioural support contexts.
• Strong understanding of behaviour management strategies and SEN frameworks.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport quickly.
• Patience, empathy and resilience to work with complex needs.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Relevant qualifications or training in mentoring, counselling, or behavioural support is desirable but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one and group mentoring support tailored to students' needs.
• Develop and implement behaviour intervention strategies to support positive outcomes.
• Monitor, record, and report on student progress and behaviour incidents.
• Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, parents, and external agencies to coordinate support.
• Promote positive relationships and support social and emotional growth.
• Support transitions, including reintegration following exclusions or challenging periods.
