Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an experienced Lead Design and Estimation professional to drive structured cabling and Smart Infrastructure projects in the UK. You will lead design and cost modeling efforts, engaging with customers and cross-functional teams to deliver compliant, scalable solutions using CAD and Bluebeam.

Ideal candidates will have proven experience in design/estimation for complex facilities, certifications in BICSI-related areas, and a strong commercial acumen to maximize project

Qualifications

• Proven experience in design and estimation for structured cabling and Smart Infrastructure
• Strong understanding of IP-connected devices (CCTV, AV, WiFi, Digital Signage)
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), CAD, and Bluebeam
• Design certifications from key manufacturers (Corning, Systimax, Panduit, Nexans/Aginode)
• Knowledge of BICSI standards and willingness to pursue RCDD, CDCDP, CNIDP, or ECSE certifications
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical audiences
• Analytical mindset with strong commercial awareness—confident in cost modeling and risk assessment
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team on high-value projects (£500K+)

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and estimation process for structured cabling and infrastructure solutions
• Produce detailed bids and cost models for tenders, working with Account and Solutions teams
• Engage directly with customers to provide input, attend meetings, and present solutions
• Provide technical authority across projects, acting as a trusted advisor to stakeholders
• Apply best practices and BICSI standards to ensure quality and compliance in design work
• Support solution development across IP devices, WiFi, AV, and CCTV
• Deliver accurate, scalable designs using CAD, Bluebeam, and estimation tools
• Influence design decisions and mentor colleagues on the team
