Job summary

Jobtailor in the United Kingdom is seeking an experienced Design Estimator for structured cabling projects to drive bids and solutions.

You will produce estimates, support account teams, ensure best-practice bids per BICSI and manufacturer guidelines, and create handover packs and installation documentation.

Qualifications

  • Strong experience in structured cabling design and estimation.
  • Knowledge of containment and pathway design and survey validation.
  • Understanding of IP-connected solutions including WiFi, CCTV, AV, and meeting room technology.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Teams Rooms (MTR) design and cabling principles.
  • CAD and Bluebeam experience, plus strong Excel/Office skills.
  • Minimum two manufacturer design accreditations (e.g. Corning, Panduit, Systimax, Nexans/Aginode).
  • Commercial confidence (costing, margins, risk awareness), ideally with experience on £500K+ bids.
  • Willingness to work towards BICSI (RCDD/CDCDP) or relevant AV/WiFi/CCTV certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Own and refine cost models, applying value engineering to maximise margin
  • Provide technical governance, risk management, and commercial assurance across opportunities
  • Support customer presentations and mid/post-bid discussions

Job description
