Structural Revit Technician - Structural Engineering

Description

McBains is seeking an experienced Structural Revit Technician / BIM Technician to join our London-based team.


Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and manage detailed 3D structural Revit models for buildings and infrastructure projects.
  • Produce coordinated structural drawings to a high technical standard.
  • Collaborate with structural engineers, architects, MEP, and civil teams to ensure integrated multi-disciplinary models.
  • Ensure compliance with BIM Execution Plans, project standards, and ISO 19650 workflows.
  • Support the development and use of Dynamo scripts to enhance modelling efficiency and automation.
  • Manage project models and documentation within CDE Platforms like ACC or similar.
  • Assist in model federation and clash detection using Navisworks or similar tools.
  • Participate in design coordination meetings and contribute to project reviews.
  • Contribute to the improvement and standardisation of BIM processes within the team.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Required Qualities and Skills:
  • Proven experience as the lead Revit technician on large-scale structural engineering projects, responsible for model development, coordination, and delivery.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience working with Autodesk Revit on medium/large projects.
  • In-depth knowledge of the latest Autodesk Revit version, including model templates, clash detection, and clash reports.
  • Experience with CAD packages such as AutoCAD.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information.
  • Self-motivated with a sense of responsibility.
Desirable Qualities and Skills:
  • Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or equivalent).
  • HNC/HND in a relevant field or BIM qualifications from BRE Academy or similar.
  • Experience with Dynamo for task automation in Revit.
  • Familiarity with Navisworks for clash detection and review.
  • Understanding of or exposure to C++ and/or Python for BIM workflows.
  • Experience across sectors such as residential, commercial, education, and infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with platforms like Asite, Viewpoint, or BIM 360.
