Job Description:

Established in 2022, Aston Martin Performance Technologies (AMPT) Special Projects is the advanced engineering division of the Aston Martin Racing Performance Group.

AMPT Special Projects is focused on applying our F1-derived high-performance engineering, innovation, technical expertise and breakthrough technologies, to deliver high-performance engineering projects outside of Formula One.

With a programme portfolio that spans automotive and non-automotive sectors, we are looking for a range of driven, world-class engineers to join us on this exciting journey of solving complex challenges beyond the racetrack.

We have a new opportunity to be part of the Aston Martin Performance Technologies special projects team in the role of Structural Engineer.

As a Structural Engineer in our AMPT Special Projects Division you will play a vital role in the design, analysis, and optimisation of high-performance mechanical and composite components. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge engineering in a fast-paced, innovation-led environment.

You will also represent AMPT externally, ensuring a high technical and professional standard is maintained with customers, partners, suppliers, and institutions.

You will be responsible for:

  • Performing structural analysis (hand calcs + FEA) on mechanical and composite parts and assemblies.
  • Delivering clear, actionable feedback and reports to design teams from concept through to completion.
  • Collaborating with Design and Production teams to ensure structural integrity, performance, and safety.
  • Conducting peer reviews and contribute to the continuous improvement of structural methodologies.
  • Supporting issue resolution during testing, manufacturing, and development phases.
  • Researching new materials, processes, and tools to enhance performance and efficiency.
  • Participating in project planning, tracking, and reporting, support compliance and IP efforts.

What you will need to be successful in this role:

  • Degree in Automotive, Mechanical, Motorsport Engineering or similar.
  • Experience in Formula 1, elite motorsport, or advanced engineering sectors.
  • Proficient in FEA, ideally using Altair Hypermesh; Python skills desirable.
  • Skilled at delivering results in dynamic, fast-moving environments.
  • Effective communicator and team player, with a proactive and professional approach.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a commitment to innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Solid understanding of Health & Safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Some travel may be required to meet project and company needs. Flexibility, adaptability, and a commitment to excellence are essential.

This is a full-time office-based role based at our campus in Silverstone, with additional requirement to travel to other locations where necessary.

Embark on a journey with the Aston Martin Performance Technologies to reshape history at our cutting-edge, sustainable campus in Northamptonshire. Combining our rich heritage with innovation, we bring fresh energy to motorsport. As part of our high-performing, collaborative team, you'll enjoy a competitive package, including a discretionary bonus scheme, private health care, pension plan, life assurance, and benefits like TEDSgroup childcare, cycle-to-work, tech, and car schemes. Plus, you can look forward to an on-site gym with fitness, spin, and yoga classes, as well as a new restaurant offering indoor and outdoor dining.
