About the role

Ideally, you will be a chartered structural engineer or have the ambition to become chartered soon, with experience in designing building structures across all common materials and major sectors. You should have around 5-7 years of design experience and be able to communicate effectively with clients and team members to deliver multiple projects simultaneously.

You will also have experience in conducting inspections and preparing reports on building structures to identify defects, with recommendations for remedial actions. Proficiency in software such as Tedds and Tekla Structures (or similar) is required. A full clean UK driving license is necessary. We support ongoing professional development through CPD events and courses from IStructE or ICE, and assist with progression to chartership with guidance from our in-house chartered engineers.

Responsibilities

You will manage a small team to deliver projects valued between £1m and £20m. Your duties include providing regular updates to Directors, managing fees, timelines, and resources, ensuring compliance with QA policies, and mentoring graduate engineers and technicians alongside senior staff.

What are we looking for?

• An Engineering degree (Meng/BEng) in Civil or Structural Engineering
• Experience in civil and structural design, including calculations and drawings
• Progress towards or achieved chartership with IStructE or ICE
• Proven ability to deliver projects from concept to tender stage
• Strong analysis and technical design skills
• Experience managing and leading a team as the primary contact for structural projects
• Excellent knowledge of engineering practices, procedures, and structural principles
