Job summary

EDM Recruitment Group Ltd is seeking a Structural Engineer in Edinburgh to join a growing team working on large-scale precast concrete projects. You’ll develop designs from concept through to manufacture and site installation, collaborating across PMs, production, and site teams to deliver practical, safe engineering solutions.

With 2+ years in structural engineering and proficiency in AutoCAD, you’ll contribute to design for manufacture, value engineering, and adherence to relevant standards

Qualifications

  • Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in a structural engineering role within the construction industry.
  • Essential experience designing precast concrete structures.
  • Strong understanding of structural analysis, buildability and engineering best practice.
  • Knowledge of British and European design standards and construction regulations.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects independently and within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Proactive, customer-focused approach with problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Produce structural calculations and technical designs for complex precast concrete projects.
  • Deliver designs from concept to completion, ensuring compliance with design codes and regulations.
  • Ensure structural stability throughout manufacture, lifting, transportation and erection.
  • Create accurate engineering drawings and technical documentation.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers, Production teams and site personnel to meet programme deadlines.
  • Provide technical support to clients, consultants and internal departments.
  • Identify value engineering opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce costs without compromising safety or quality.
  • Monitor design programmes and flag potential delays or impacts.
  • Resolve technical engineering issues throughout project delivery.
  • Support Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DfMA) and implementation of new engineering software.

Are you a Structural Engineer with experience in precast concrete design looking to join an innovative and growing organisation?

Our client, a well‑established and highly respected specialist within the construction and manufacturing sector, is seeking a Structural Engineer to join their expanding technical team in Edinburgh. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of large‑scale structural projects, taking responsibility from initial design through to manufacture and site installation.

Working closely with senior management, project teams and production departments, you'll play a key role in delivering safe, practical and commercially effective engineering solutions while contributing to the continued development of industry‑leading products and processes.

The Role
  • Producing structural calculations and technical designs for complex precast concrete projects.

About You
