Our client is a well-established, multidisciplinary engineering and design consultancy with a strong reputation for delivering complex projects across the built environment, infrastructure, defence, nuclear, life sciences, and industrial sectors. With a collaborative and people-focused culture, they provide innovative engineering solutions from concept through to detailed design and project delivery.

Known for their technical excellence and commitment to sustainability, they work closely with a diverse portfolio of public and private sector clients on some of the UK's most challenging and high-profile developments. Their teams combine deep sector knowledge with a practical approach to problem-solving, enabling them to deliver efficient, future-focused solutions that add real value throughout the project lifecycle.

The business offers a supportive environment where engineers are empowered to take ownership of projects, develop their technical expertise, and progress their careers within a growing and forward-thinking organisation. This is an excellent opportunity to join a company that places equal importance on innovation, professional development, and delivering outstanding results for its clients.

Role Overview

Our client is looking to appoint a Structural Engineer to join their growing engineering team, supporting the delivery of major infrastructure and energy projects across the UK. This role offers the opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of schemes, including substations, grid infrastructure, renewable energy developments, industrial facilities, transportation projects and defence-sector programmes.

As part of a multidisciplinary design environment, you will play a key role in developing innovative, safe and efficient structural solutions from concept through to detailed design. You'll collaborate closely with engineers across multiple disciplines, contribute to technically complex projects, and gain exposure to a wide variety of sectors without being confined to a single market.

This opportunity is particularly well suited to an ambitious Structural Engineer who is progressing towards Chartership and is looking to broaden their experience within the rapidly growing power and energy sector while continuing to develop their expertise across a range of other industries. You'll be supported by experienced professionals, involved in challenging and rewarding projects, and encouraged to take ownership of your technical development and career progression.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Design and specify structural engineering solutions for infrastructure, energy and building projects.
  • Produce high-quality technical deliverables, including calculations, drawings, specifications and engineering reports.
  • Support the delivery of projects across sectors including power, renewables, industrial, transportation and defence.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary design teams to develop safe, practical and sustainable engineering solutions.
  • Review structural calculations, technical drawings and supplier submissions to ensure compliance with project requirements and industry standards.
  • Ensure designs are delivered in accordance with quality assurance procedures and relevant regulations.
  • Assist with site visits, design reviews and technical coordination activities as required.
  • Support and mentor graduate and early-career engineers.
  • Contribute to technical excellence initiatives, knowledge sharing and continuous improvement within the team.
  • Build positive working relationships with clients, contractors and key project stakeholders.
Requirements
  • Degree qualified in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrable structural design experience within at least one of the following sectors: power and energy, industrial, transportation, defence, commercial or infrastructure.
  • Progressing towards Chartered Engineer (CEng) or Incorporated Engineer (IEng) status through ICE, IStructE or an equivalent professional body.
  • Experience using structural analysis and design software such as MasterSeries, STAAD or Tedds.
  • Strong understanding of Eurocodes, British Standards and CDM Regulations.
  • Excellent technical problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
  • UK-based structural engineering project experience gained through employment, graduate programmes or internships.
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain security clearance where required.
  • Salary up to £40,000 per annum
  • Annual bonus (based on performance)
  • Up to 6% matched pension contribution
  • Life assurance
  • 25 days annual leave plus the option to purchase additional leave
  • Flexible and hybrid working arrangements
