The Opportunity
A well-established multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy is seeking a Structural Engineer to join its growing team in Hemel Hempstead. This is an excellent opportunity for a Structural Engineer with at least two years' post-graduate consultancy experience to further develop their technical expertise while working on a diverse range of structural engineering projects.
The successful Structural Engineer will become part of a collaborative and supportive team, delivering innovative engineering solutions across commercial, residential, research & development, energy and refurbishment projects. This role offers genuine career progression, exposure to technically challenging schemes and full support towards Chartership.
The Role
As a Structural Engineer, your responsibilities will include:
- Designing structural solutions in steel, reinforced concrete, timber and masonry.
- Producing structural calculations and technical reports using industry-standard software, including Tekla and TEDDS.
- Working closely with architects, contractors, clients and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Assisting with project planning, coordination and technical delivery from concept through to completion.
- Attending project meetings and liaising with stakeholders throughout the design process.
- Conducting site inspections to ensure works comply with design specifications and statutory requirements.
- Developing practical engineering solutions while maintaining high technical standards.
- Working towards Chartered Engineer status with support from experienced mentors.
About You
To be considered for this Structural Engineer position, you will have:
- A BEng or MEng in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or a related discipline.
- A minimum of two years' experience within a structural engineering consultancy.
- Experience designing structures using steel, concrete, timber and masonry.
- Proficiency with structural design software such as Tekla, TEDDS or similar packages.
- A sound understanding of structural engineering principles, geotechnics and foundation design.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving and teamwork skills.
- Membership of the Institution of Structural Engineers (IStructE) or Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE), or a desire to work towards Chartership.
- A full UK driving licence.
