Salary:

£50,100 - £75,100 + car / car allowance + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

The role

As part of SSEN Transmissions Offshore Portfolio of works, we have an opportunity for a Structural/Civil OHL Engineer to join our newly formed Offshore AC Project Engineering team to help drive forward our Island projects and successfully deliver a network for Net Zero. Our Island projects facilitate the connection to our HVDC systems and include state-of-the-art AC plant, grid control and stabilisation technology.

You will
  1. Prepare and review designs through the development and execution phases, including route selection, substation tie-ins, and stage-by-stage diagrams.
  2. Promote best practices within the OHL design and installation by suggesting improvements in specifications, technology options, and the management of engineering risks.
  3. Manage and promote safety within your assigned projects through the implementation of CDM procedures and practices, ensuring compliance with relevant company, HSE, and industry regulations.
  4. Be responsible for Engineering delivery on your assigned projects, with a typical capital value of £50m to £100m. Collaborate with Engineering Managers, Lead Project Managers, and Project Managers to ensure successful project delivery while managing engineering and quality risks.
You have
  1. Demonstrable experience working on the transmission network, with knowledge of Overhead lines, specifically development, design, and specification. Ability to assess technical issues and solutions critically.
  2. A good technical understanding of relevant legislation such as CDM & ESQCR and their implications for Transmission network management, Assets, and Projects.
  3. Effective communication skills to clearly convey complex technical issues to facilitate decision-making by senior management.
  4. Confidence in working with stakeholders at all levels, both internally and externally, with an appetite for building strong relationships.
  5. Ideally, a Degree in Mechanical, Civil, or relevant engineering discipline and Chartered Engineer status or working towards it.
