Job summary

Boeing in Frimley, United Kingdom is seeking a Structures Engineer to identify requirements and deliver solutions for active and upcoming projects. You will lead certification activities, review substantiation documents, and coordinate with global teams across time zones to ensure design compliance and airworthiness for cabin and structure changes.

The role requires a Bachelor of Science in Engineering and substantial aerospace experience, with knowledge of EASA rules and FEA.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or equivalent.
  • Five years of relevant aerospace experience preferred.
  • Experience with EASA Part 21J design organisations is desired.
  • Knowledge of interior reconfiguration and primary structure modifications is desired.
  • Proficient in hand calculations and finite element analysis (FEA).
  • Strong technical report writing and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead certification activities to ensure compliance with design requirements.
  • Act as the technical focal for certification and stress issues on large aircraft modification programmes.
  • Compile and critically review structural substantiation documents for new seating, galley, lavatory installations and other cabin modifications.
  • Oversee primary structure changes including antenna installations and fuselage modifications.
  • Represent Boeing in customer meetings (ITCM, PDR, CDR, FAI) and provide on-site support during embodiment phases.
  • Promote a culture of safety and quality within the engineering organisation.
  • Collaborate with global engineering teams across multiple time zones.

Job description

  • Reporting to the Structures Engineering Manager and working with the global engineering team, across multiple time-zones, in order to identify requirements and their associated solutions for active and upcoming projects
  • Capable of leading certification activities to ensure compliance with design requirements, and be a technical focal for certification and stress issues relating to large aircraft modification programmes.
  • Compile and critically review structural substantiation documents related to:
  • Product certification and integration to the aircraft of: New seating installations and new monument and furniture Installations such as Galleys, Lavatories, class dividers, first class suites and VVIP furnishing, Cabin interior changes including LOPAs, Passenger Service Unit layouts and LRU installations, etc.
  • Primary structure changes including Antenna Installations and Fuselage Modifications.
  • You will act as a Boeing representative during customer meetings such as ITCM, PDR, CDR and FAI in support of active and up-coming projects. Provide additional on-site support to assist the customers' during the embodiment phase of the project.
  • Promote a culture of innovation, safety, and quality throughout the engineering organization. Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus on Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace Aeronautical or Material Sciences)., Equivalent of a minimum of five (5) years relevant experience is desirable. Current or recent employment within the aerospace industry specifically working with an EASA Part 21J Design Organisation (or equivalent) is desired
  • Substantial knowledge of aircraft interior and/or primary structure modification practices and interfaces is desired
  • Proficient in hand calculations, using classic stress analysis techniques
  • Proficient in Finite Element Analysis
  • Proficient in Technical Report Writing
  • Able to demonstrate a working knowledge of EASA regulatory and airworthiness requirements including (E)TSO, CS-25, JAR-25 and FAR 25 requirements (relevant to the stress/structures discipline)
  • Knowledge and experience of aircraft interior reconfiguration programmes and primary and secondary aircraft structures
  • A high level of attention to detail and professional integrity
  • Ability to work on multiple programmes with varying level of requirements efficiently and effectively
