Job summary

BAE Systems is seeking a Senior Structures Engineer to support a growing world-wide fast jet development program. The role requires deep knowledge of Aircraft Structural Analysis, covering metallics and composites, using techniques from hand calculations to FEA.

You will supervise and mentor junior engineers within the Structures team, ensuring robust analyses and timely delivery across multiple sites including Warton, Samlesbury, and Prestwick.

Qualifications

• Experience in structural sizing and analysis for aerospace structures.
• Strong background in Finite Element Analysis methods and software.
• Ability to mentor and develop less experienced engineers.

Responsibilities

• Define and carry out engineering analysis tasks allocated to you and to your team members.
• Mentor and develop less experienced colleagues to build up the team’s knowledge.
• Ensure effective interactions with team mates, suppliers and customers.
• Carry out structure analysis using FEA and hand-calculation methods and verify certification requirements.
• Carry out fatigue and damage tolerance analysis.

Job description:

To ensure we support our growing world-wide fast jet development we need to increase the size of our Structural

Analysis team.

As a Senior Structures Engineer within that team you will need to have a thorough knowledge Aircraft Structural

Analysis covering metallics and composites using a range of analysis techniques from traditional hand calculations

through to computational techniques such as Finite Element Analysis.

Engineering knowledge sufficient to supervise junior/early career engineers.

• Finite Element Analysis

Dependent upon your specialist experience and knowledge, you will be responsible for activities such as:

• Defining and carrying out engineering analysis tasks allocated to you and to your team members.
• Mentoring and developing less experienced colleagues to build up the team’s knowledge, skill and experience across the Structures discipline.
• Ensuring effective interactions between team mates, suppliers, customers and others, to develop efficient and effective working practices, and resolving issues as they arise to maintain this effectiveness.
• Carrying out analysis of structure using finite element analysis, traditional hand-calculations and calculations using a variety of software applications, to demonstrate that the structural design meets relevant certification and project requirements.
• Fatigue and damage tolerance analysis.
