Job summary

Braintree District Council is seeking a Street Scene Protection Officer to join the Enforcement team in Braintree, Essex, on a fixed-term 12-month basis. The post focuses on improving street scene conditions by enforcing environmental legislation and preventing anti-social behaviour.

The role requires conducting investigations, collecting evidence, issuing notices, and presenting cases in court. A valid UK driving licence and customer-focused approach are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience of enforcement action from informal warning to prosecution.
• Knowledge of legislation including PACE, CPIA and RIPA procedures.
• Experience of PACE interviews and giving evidence in court.
• Excellent customer service skills and a flexible approach.

Responsibilities

• Carry out enforcement of relevant street scene legislation in the Braintree District.
• Undertake proactive and reactive investigations and support victims.
• Collect evidence, take statements, issue fixed penalties and write reports.
• Work as part of a team to deter anti-social behaviour and environmental crime.
