Job summary

Balfour Beatty Group is seeking a Street Lighting Engineer to install, repair and maintain street lighting across Northamptonshire. The role is site-based with field work on multiple sites, ensuring safe operation and timely fault diagnosis.

You will work in a team, with responsibility for equipment, risk assessments, and outreach to maintain lighting assets; required qualifications and a comprehensive training path are provided.

Qualifications

• Full UK driving licence is essential for site visits across the county.
• Experience with fault-finding, repairs and routine maintenance of street lighting systems.
• Comfortable using basic IT tools; tablet device provided for site works and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Installing, repairing and maintaining street lighting assets and related equipment.
• Work in a team or alone with safety responsibility for own jobs.
• Carry out LED lantern replacement programmes to upgrade lighting.
• Perform ground excavations and reinstatement after work.
• Paint and maintain street furniture to high standards.
• Conduct dynamic risk assessments before and during work.
• Take responsibility for company vehicles, tools and equipment.
• Participate in standby rota for out-of-hours emergencies in Northamptonshire.
