Job summary

Doncaster Council is seeking a proactive Street Cleansing Technician to help maintain public spaces across Doncaster. You will join a friendly Street Scene team, working outdoors on community sites, with training provided to operate a range of cleaning machinery.

Experience in street cleansing or waste is a plus but not essential; we value a positive attitude and teamwork. Shortlisting begins week of 31.08.2026 with interviews planned for early September.

Qualifications

• Experience in Street Cleansing or Waste management is beneficial but not essential.
• Good team player with a positive attitude and commitment to service.
• Willingness to participate in training to operate maintenance machinery.

Responsibilities

• Operate maintenance machinery for litter removal and road sweeping.
• Empty bins and clear fly tips.
• Weed removal and general street cleaning tasks.
• Work across Doncaster sites delivering a high standard of service.
• Participate in training to enhance skills and professional development.

We may have the opportunity for you; we are looking for an enthusiastic and passionate individual to join our Street Scene team.

Although experience in Street Cleansing or Waste management is a benefit it is not essential for the role of Street Cleansing Technician. We need someone with a positive attitude who works well in a team and is committed to delivering an excellent service every day.

We will provide training to allow you to use a variety of maintenance machinery to deliver works including, litter removal, bin emptying, fly tip clearance, road sweeping and weed removal works. The role works directly in the community on sites across Doncaster, giving you the chance to see the difference Street Scene makes to people living in Doncaster.

We will provide full uniform and PPE and an opportunity for further development in the future.
