Job summary

Village Staff Limited seeks a capable supervisor to lead a team of Street Cleansing Operatives, delivering cleaning and maintenance of public roads, spaces, car parks and town centres across the borough.

The role includes early starts (06:00–20:00, Mon–Fri), occasional weekends/bank holidays, driving duties in line with FORS and O-licence, vehicle checks up to 7.5 tonnes, and keeping vehicles clean. An overtime rota may apply.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of Street Cleansing Operatives to clean and maintain public roads, spaces, car parks, carriageways and town centres.
• Provide a clean, safe and secure environment for residents, businesses and visitors.
• Take personal responsibility for meeting service standards and objectives.
• To be a reversing assistant as required.
• Work between 06:00 and 20:00 Monday to Friday; may include weekends/bank holidays as specified by rota and contractual overtime.
• Carry out driving duties in compliance with FORS, O-licence and UK driving laws.
• Conduct daily walk-around checks on vehicles up to 7.5 tonnes GVW, ensuring roadworthiness and reporting defects.
• Keep vehicles clean and tidy.

Purpose of Job:

To be responsible to the Operational Supervisor To:

Support and lead a team of Street Cleansing Operatives (SCO) carrying out a range of duties, as instructed to clean and maintain public roads, public open spaces, car parks, carriageways/fast roads, and town centres through lone or team working.

Provide a clean, safe, and secure Environment for the borough's residents, Businesses, and visitors.

Take personal responsibility for ensuring that the quality of service provided meets the expected standards and delivers the service objectives.

To be a reversing assistant as and when required Main Duties:

To work between the hours of 06:00 and 20:00 Monday to Friday. The post holder will also be required to periodically work weekends and bank holidays in accordance with a pre-published rota to meet the requirements of the service on a contractual overtime basis as directed by their Operational Supervisor.

To carry out all driving duties ensuring a high standard in compliance with FORS and O-licence regulations and complying with all UK driving laws.

To undertake daily walk-around checks of vehicles up to 7.5 tonnes gross vehicle weight, ensuring that the vehicle is and remains roadworthy before and whilst out on the public highway and report any driver-reportable defects via the agreed corporate fleet management process and the Operational Supervisor.
