Job summary

Carrington Blake Recruitment in Thurrock is seeking a street cleansing operative to maintain public spaces, operate non-LGV vehicles and mechanical sweepers, and perform litter picking, waste removal and graffiti clearance.

You'll join the local Clean & Green Services team, work 37 hours per week 14:00-22:00, and follow safety procedures while delivering a reliable, professional service to residents.

Qualifications

• Category B driving licence required.
• Experience driving non-LGV vehicles under 3,500kg GVW.
• Experience with mechanical sweepers.
• Experience meeting cleaning standards and schedules.
• Able to undertake physically demanding outdoor work.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Basic digital literacy and use of handheld/in-cab systems.
• Good understanding of vehicle, plant and equipment safety.

Responsibilities

• Operate non-LGV vehicles and mechanical sweepers.
• Carry out street cleansing and sweeping across designated areas.
• Litter picking and removing rubbish from public spaces.
• Empty litter and dog waste bins.
• Remove graffiti, fly-posting, weeds and other waste.
• Use equipment such as blowers and strimmers.
• Carry out vehicle and equipment checks.
• Complete daily records, timesheets and work allocation records.
• Work with other Clean & Green teams on environmental maintenance projects.
• Report issues, accidents or incidents to the Team Manager.
• Ensure all work is completed safely and in line with council procedures.
