Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a strategic Transportation Network Planner for a leading logistics and distribution company in Randburg, SA. The role focuses on designing, optimizing, and managing the transportation network to ensure efficiency and timely delivery.

You will work with carriers, operations, and senior management to develop strategic plans, model network changes, and drive cost improvements while ensuring compliance with safety standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Logistics, SCM, IE, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in transportation planning or logistics.
• Strong Excel and TMS expertise.
• Experience in network modeling and optimization.
• Knowledge of road, rail, air, sea modes and related costs.

Responsibilities

• Design and optimize the transportation network infrastructure.
• Analyze data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and cost opportunities.
• Use TMS and modeling tools to simulate network changes.
• Negotiate rates with carriers and manage SLAs.
• Develop freight consolidation, route optimization, and mode selection plans.
• Collaborate with operations to execute transportation plans.
• Monitor costs and address variances with corrective actions.
• Stay updated on industry trends and regulatory changes.
• Prepare reports for senior management with recommendations.
• Ensure compliance with transportation regulations and safety standards.
