Job summary

ONE Consulting is seeking a hands-on Buyer / Supply Chain Lead to balance day-to-day purchasing with strategic improvements in a manufacturing setting. You will ensure material availability, drive cost reductions, and reduce reliance on sole-source suppliers through smart sourcing and supplier development.

You will lead core activities in supplier selection, negotiations, and make-versus-buy decisions while improving inventory management and ERP/MRP parameters.

Qualifications

• Experience in purchasing, supply chain or procurement within a manufacturing environment.
• Day to day purchasing functions.
• Goods-in processes, incoming inspection, and non-conforming material control.
• Hands on experience using MRP/ERP systems in manufacturing.
• Experience of outsourced manufacturing and make-versus-buy analysis.
• Experience leading change and implementing process improvements in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong understanding of supplier quality, performance management, and supply chain risk.
• Practical problem-solving skills with focus on containment, delivery and continuity.
• Strong stakeholder management, communication and influencing skills.
• Professional purchasing qualification (e.g. CIPS) or equivalent would be an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Lead supplier selection, supplier rationalisation and sourcing activities.
• Identify and implement material cost reduction opportunities.
• Reduce reliance on sole-source suppliers and develop alternative supply options.
• Lead make-versus-buy evaluations and implement outsourcing initiatives where advantageous.
• Manage supplier performance across quality, delivery, responsiveness and cost and lead reviews.
• Own supplier NCRs, corrective actions and follow-up.
• Carry out incoming inspection activities where required.
• Lead cross-functional initiatives to improve purchasing, planning, stores and logistics processes.
• Improve inventory management, stock accuracy and material control processes.
• Own ERP/MRP planning parameters including lead times, safety stocks and ordering policies.
• Identify opportunities to simplify and standardise logistics processes.
• Support efficient domestic and international logistics arrangements.
• Influence stakeholders to implement supply chain improvements.
• Work with Operations and Production to maintain material availability.
• Support investigations of supplier-related quality issues.
• Drive practical supply chain and inventory improvement initiatives.
• Support ISO9001 compliance and audits; maintain records.
