Job summary

Balfour Beatty plc is seeking a strategic procurement professional to manage end-to-end subcontract, materials, plant and equipment sourcing for a defined area of the business unit in the UK. You will lead RFQ processes, evaluate tenders, and drive value for money through robust supplier relationships, risk management and continuous improvement across projects and estimating teams.

Qualifications

• Experience of end-to-end procurement from market research, through sourcing, to contract and supplier management.
• Excellent negotiating skills with a track record of achieving savings and value for money.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Proactive procurement of subcontract services, RFIs, and RFPs to maximise value across direct spend areas (concrete, steel reinforcement).
• Evaluate tender responses and compile award recommendations with total cost of ownership in mind.
• Perform due diligence and commercial checks on supply partners per governance.
• Negotiate terms, conditions and prices against tender allowances/targets.
• Ensure project requirements are met with high-quality, value-for-money contracts; record cost savings after agreement with project/finance.
• Process requisitions and raise Purchase Orders per procedures and delegated authorities.
• Monitor market developments and supply partner capacity; manage market intelligence for strategy.
• Build long-term supplier relationships focused on value, service, and quality; manage supplier performance.
