Job summary

WR Engineering in the United Kingdom is seeking a Strategic Sourcing Specialist to drive sourcing across commodities in an industrial manufacturing setting. You will collaborate with category managers and stakeholders to develop strategies, manage supplier performance and support cost and supply-risk initiatives.

The role is 38 hours per week with a salary up to 65K and a benefits package including holidays.

Qualifications

• Experience in procurement and category management within industrial/manufacturing settings.
• Experience with global sourcing and cost/risk management.
• Experience using ERP systems in manufacturing.
• Degree in business or engineering; supply chain diploma or certification is a plus.
• Experience with metals, pumps, valves, instrumentation would be welcome.

Responsibilities

• Support supplier investigation, selection and due diligence with cost updates and supplier records.
• Manage sourcing projects from planning through delivery with suppliers and internal teams to define objectives.
• Develop project costing models and sourcing strategies with stakeholders.
• Benchmark costs and support global cost-reduction initiatives and reduce supply risk.
• Work with cross-functional teams to improve supplier performance and assess suppliers for new product development.
• Maintain sourcing procedures and governance for supplier selection and cost approvals.
• Understand plant operations and help resolve critical supply challenges.

Strategic Sourcing Specialist

An opportunity in Droitwich for an experienced sourcing professional to work across commodities in an industrial manufacturing environment. You'll collaborate with category managers and other stakeholders to develop sourcing strategies, manage supplier performance and support cost and supply-risk initiatives.

Salary to 65K, 25 days holiday + benefits package

What you’ll do

• Support supplier investigation, selection and due diligence, alongside material cost updates and supplier records.
• Manage sourcing projects from planning through to delivery, working with suppliers and internal teams to define objectives.
• Develop project costing models and sourcing strategies with stakeholders, including proposal teams.
• Benchmark costs, support global cost-reduction initiatives and develop ways to reduce supply risk.
• Work with cross-functional teams to improve supplier performance and assess suppliers for new product development.
• Maintain sourcing procedures and follow governance requirements for supplier selection and cost approvals.
• Understand plant operations and help resolve critical supply challenges.

38 hours per week

What you’ll bring

• Significant experience in procurement and category management within an industrial or manufacturing environment, with experience of global sourcing.
• Practical experience of cost management, supplier management and risk mitigation, plus confidence using ERP systems in manufacturing.
• A degree in business or engineering, or equivalent working experience. A supply chain diploma or professional certification would be an advantage.
• Experience with raw metal alloys, steel fabrications, instrumentation and controls, pumps, valves or third-party contract manufacturing would be welcome.
