Strategic Sourcing Specialist

We re recruiting for an established international engineering and manufacturing business looking for an experienced Strategic Sourcing Specialist to support sourcing activity across a technically complex manufacturing operation.

This is a hands-on strategic procurement role covering supplier selection, cost reduction, category sourcing, supplier performance and supply risk across a broad range of industrial commodities.

What you'll be doing

• Lead sourcing activity across key manufacturing commodities
• Identify, assess and select suppliers
• Support supplier negotiations, cost reviews and sourcing decisions
• Develop and execute sourcing strategies with internal stakeholders
• Build costing models and carry out benchmarking to improve cost competitiveness
• Deliver cost-reduction and value-engineering initiatives
• Manage supplier performance and support improvement plans
• Identify supply risks and develop mitigation strategies
• Support new product development through supplier evaluation and capability assessment
• Work closely with Engineering, Operations, Proposal and Category teams
• Maintain supplier documentation, due diligence and sourcing governance
• Use ERP and supply chain data to support sourcing and commercial decisions

What we're looking for

You ll need proven procurement or category management experience within an industrial or manufacturing environment.

You should also have:

• Experience managing sourcing activity, including supplier selection, evaluation and performance
• Exposure to global or international supply chains
• Experience developing sourcing strategies and cost-reduction initiatives
• Strong commercial experience using cost modelling, benchmarking and supplier negotiation
• Good understanding of supplier risk and performance management
• Experience using ERP systems within a manufacturing environment
• Strong analytical skills and confidence working with supply chain data
• Ability to work across Engineering, Operations, Procurement and other internal teams

Experience sourcing commodities such as raw metal alloys, steel fabrications, instrumentation and controls, pumps, valves or third-party manufacturing would be particularly relevant.

The role Salary: GBP50,000 GBP55,000

Location: Droitwich Spa

Contract: Permanent

Working pattern: Full-time, 100% on-site
