We are recruiting for a Strategic Sourcing Analyst to join our Purchasing team at Tunstall to play a critical part in strategic sourcing initiatives and procurement at Tunstall.

What will you be doing in this role?

You will provide essential analytical and administrative support to the Strategic Sourcing Director and the wider Operations team focusing on activities prior to order placement. You will play a vital part in assisting with RFQs (Request for Quotations), supplier identification, cost reduction projects, and data management to support strategic sourcing initiatives and contribute to a more efficient and cost-effective supply base.

The ideal candidate…

You will have proven experience in procurement, purchasing or an analytical role, ideally within a manufacturing or supply chain environment. You will have a high attention to detail, and excellent communication skills, able to present data clearly and communicate effectively face to face, over the phone, via email and Teams.

Proactive, persistent, and collaborative in your approach, you will be able to confidently liaise with stakeholders to gather required information purchasing experience. Strong analytical and MS Excel skills are a must for this role.

Some of your key duties in this role you will be…

  • RFX (RFI/RFP/RFQ) Support: Assist in preparing and issuing RFIs, RFPs, and RFQs to potential suppliers,
  • Supplier Research & Identification: Conduct initial research to identify potential new suppliers based on project requirements, capabilities, and market trends,
  • Cost Data Collection & Analysis: Gather and organise cost data from supplier quotations, supporting Sourcing in preliminary cost analysis to identify potential savings opportunities,
  • Data Management & Reporting: Maintain accurate records of supplier quotations, pricing, and project data within the system and assist in creating basic reports to track sourcing project progress and key metrics,
  • Supplier Communication (Pre-Order): Communicate with suppliers to clarify technical specifications, obtain necessary documentation, and follow up on quotation submissions,
  • Market Intelligence & Spend Analysis: Support Sourcing by gathering and conducting preliminary analysis on market conditions, commodity trends, geopolitical factors, material costs, and spend data across various categories to identify efficiency opportunities and provide actionable intelligence,
  • New Product Introduction (NPI) Data Support: Assist in compiling component data and supplier information for new product development projects, supporting material selection,
  • Compliance & Risk Data Collection: Help collect and organise data related to supplier certifications, ethical sourcing, sustainability, Modern Slavery Act compliance, and supply chain risks (e.g., single-source dependencies), providing preliminary analysis to support mitigation efforts,
  • Contract & Lifecycle Management Data Support: Support the preparation and collection of data and documentation required for strategic contract negotiations, renewals, and component obsolescence/product lifecycle management, identifying potential impacts for proactive strategies,
  • Forecasting & Budgeting Data Preparation: Compile and analyse data to support the strategic forecasting of material costs and contribute to the annual budgeting process,
  • Process Improvement Contribution: Identify and suggest areas for improvement within strategic sourcing processes, contributing to the implementation of new tools or methodologies,
  • Support the maintenance of Component Data within the IFS ERP system, tracking price changes and challenging supplier price increases where appropriate.

Key skills and experience:

  • Proven experience in a procurement, purchasing, or an analytical role, ideally within a manufacturing or supply chain environment,
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g: pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, conditional formatting, data validation, basic macros/VBA understanding) for data analysis and reporting,
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organise, and interpret data accurately,
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data handling,
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present data clearly,
  • A proactive and self-motivated approach with a desire to learn and grow within strategic procurement,
  • Computer literate with experience using ERP or procurement systems for data entry and reporting,

Desirable skills and experience:

  • Understanding of the RFQ process and basic sourcing concepts,
  • Experience in a manufacturing or supply chain environment,
  • CIPS Level 2 (Foundation Diploma) or working towards it,
  • Experience with data visualisation tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau),
  • Understanding of supply chain principles and basic strategic sourcing concepts.
