Job summary

Syngenta Crop Protection is seeking a senior project/program manager to lead the Scientific Investment Programme and capital delivery across the CPR portfolio. You will drive governance, manage expenditure visibility, and partner with cross-functional teams to shape investment proposals and deliver on strategic priorities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a scientific, engineering or closely related technical discipline is required. An advanced degree in economics, finance, business administration or related discipline is an advantage.
• Strong knowledge of project and program management disciplines, including scope, schedule, cost, risk, change, stakeholder and benefits management; recognised PMI certification is desirable.
• Knowledge of capital-project delivery in scientific, engineering, infrastructure, equipment or comparable research-facility environments.
• Knowledge of capital investment governance, financial controls, forecasting and reporting.
• Fluent written and spoken English.
• Proficiency in Excel, Power BI and Smartsheet; familiarity with PPM Capex is desirable.
• Demonstrable experience managing projects or programmes with multiple stakeholders, competing priorities and changing timelines.
• Experience influencing cross-functional teams and suppliers without direct line authority
• Strong analytical capability, including the ability to translate complex delivery and financial data into clear recommendations.

Responsibilities

• Lead the annual Scientific Investment Programme to deliver scientific capability, capital targets and strategic priorities with governance and project support.
• Maintain accurate visibility of expenditure, forecast, progress, risks and delivery confidence for early intervention.
• Remove barriers to delivery by leading timely issue resolution with internal teams and external partners.
• Lead and develop the CPR Scientific Asset Lead community and embed consistent ways of working for asset investment decisions.
• Balance customer requirements with site, business and portfolio priorities to optimise outcomes.
• Partner with the CPR Capital Portfolio Manager to shape the Scientific Equipment Programme and investment proposals.
• Lead the delivery of planned and reactive capital projects from definition through close-out with scope, cost, schedule, quality and safety targets.
• Ensure projects are well defined with clear user requirements, technical specifications, approved scope and governance.
• Drive delivery pace by proactive issue resolution and coordinated action with internal and external partners.
• Maintain timely visibility of expenditure, forecasts, progress, risks and dependencies for informed decisions.
• Act as Project Owner for specified projects when appointed and ensure governance and stakeholder accountability.
• Embed delivery routines across the capital portfolio to reduce rework and improve forecast quality.
• Collaborate with HSE, Facilities Management, Procurement, IT, Engineering and stakeholders to ensure safe, compliant delivery.
• Provide deputy cover for the CPR Capital Portfolio Manager as required to ensure continuity.
