Job summary

Rettie is seeking a Risk, Compliance & Governance Lead to develop Rettie’s governance, enterprise risk and compliance framework, providing specialist advice, challenge and clear reporting to support proportionate decision-making and accountability.

Reporting to the COO, the role will line manage the Risk & Compliance Analyst and oversee HMRC Compliance Officer and Data Protection Lead duties, with travel to Edinburgh/Glasgow as required.

Qualifications

• Experience in risk governance and compliance within a regulated organisation.
• Expert practical knowledge of UK AML requirements, estate agency experience preferred.
• Experience operating enterprise risk frameworks and board reporting.
• Strong knowledge of UK data protection law and privacy governance.
• Credibility and confidence to influence senior leaders.
• Experience leading or developing others.
• Ability to satisfy HMRC approval or fit-and-proper requirements.

Responsibilities

• Operate and improve the enterprise risk framework under COO sponsorship.
• Maintain the corporate risk register, risk matrix, appetite and escalation.
• Facilitate risk reviews with accountable owners and controls.
• Prepare risk and assurance reporting for COO, ExCo and Board.
• Maintain AML, data protection, consumer protection and anti-bribery compliance frameworks.
• Coordinate external expertise and independent assurance where depth is required.
• Oversee HMRC compliance across relevant branches and activities.
• Lead Rettie’s data protection framework and DPIAs.
• Provide guidance to senior leaders on governance matters.
• Develop risk/compliance capability through training and culture.
