Job summary

Elsevier, a global leader in information and analytics, seeks an Associate Publisher to manage a portfolio of social sciences journals. You will work with editors, societies, and research communities to grow journals through market insight, data analysis, and publishing expertise.

You will build relationships, develop strategy, negotiate contracts, and contribute to cross-business projects while traveling 2–4 times a year. A degree is required and strong English is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in publishing, ideally in scholarly journals.
• Evidence of setting goals and delivering results.
• Excellent networking and English communication skills.
• Ability to adapt to change and work across cultures, locations, and levels.
• Data-driven approach to publishing.
• Financial and commercial awareness.
• Willingness to travel 2–4 trips per year.

Responsibilities

• Follow market developments in publishing and research to identify needs for journals.
• Develop portfolio strategies using market knowledge and data analysis to support STMJ objectives.
• Grow journal content through portfolio development, acquisitions, and exploring new formats and channels.
• Negotiate and manage contractual relationships with journal editors.
• Manage the editorial fees budget.
• Build and maintain relationships with editors, editorial boards, research institutes, societies, funding bodies, and other researchers.
• Contribute to wider STMJ and cross-business projects, including new products, services, business models, and process improvements.
