Job summary

Canford School in Dorset seeks a commercially minded Project Accountant for a 3-month fixed-term contract, ideally full-time but 3–4 days/week considered. You will deliver financial analysis, reporting and commercial support across merger planning, due diligence and strategic governance.

Reporting to the Chief Finance Officer, you will work with senior leaders and project leads to provide high-quality insights.

Qualifications

ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent professional qualification.
Experience in a Project Accountant, Management Accountant or Finance Business Partner role.
Experience supporting mergers, acquisitions or due diligence.
Strong financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting and reporting skills.
Excellent stakeholder management and governance reporting.
Excellent Excel and financial systems skills.
Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
Proactive with ability to translate financial information into recommendations.

Responsibilities

Develop new financial reports and support forecasting system implementation.
Support merger planning with financial analysis, modelling and reporting.
Assist financial due diligence, reviewing information and identifying risks.
Assess applications for financial assistance and provide recommendations.
Build strong relationships with senior stakeholders and translate financial information into clear recommendations.
Investigate and resolve financial queries for budget holders and project leads.
Identify opportunities to improve reporting, controls and processes.
Support wider Finance team with accounting and reporting activities.
