Job summary

Webrecruit is advertising a Strategic Procurement Manager role in Watford, Hertfordshire. You will lead the procurement function to secure materials, plant and suppliers delivering best value and performance for nationwide projects.

Working closely with the Managing Director, you will own supplier relationships, pricing, frameworks and rebates, implementing robust processes and expanding supplier coverage across England and Wales while maintaining programme delivery.

Qualifications

  • Materials buying experience in groundworks, civils or infrastructure environments.
  • Experience negotiating terms, frameworks and supplier performance.
  • Excellent supplier relationship skills and strong commercial judgement.
  • Proficiency in Excel for tracking, analysis and reconciliation.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain a nationwide supplier network with strong regional coverage.
  • Improve delivery performance through forward planning and proactive ordering.
  • Resolve order, delivery and invoice discrepancies to minimise cost leakage.
  • Develop category strategies aligned to project sequencing and operational requirements.
  • Monitor supplier performance using scorecards and performance reviews.

Role

As the Strategic Procurement Manager, you will lead and develop our client’s procurement function, ensuring materials, plant and suppliers deliver the best value, reliability and performance for projects nationwide.

Working closely with the Managing Director, you will take ownership of supplier relationships, pricing, framework agreements and rebate structures across key procurement categories.

You will implement robust procurement processes, strengthen supplier coverage across England and Wales, and work proactively to ensure sites receive the right materials at the right time while protecting programme delivery and commercial performance.

Additionally, you will:

  • Build and maintain a nationwide supplier network with strong regional coverage
  • Improve delivery performance through forward planning, lead time management and proactive ordering
  • Resolve order, delivery and invoice discrepancies to minimise cost leakage
  • Develop category strategies aligned to project sequencing and operational requirements
  • Monitor supplier performance using scorecards and performance reviews
About You

To be considered as the Strategic Procurement Manager, you will need:

  • Materials buying experience, specifically within a groundworks, civils, or infrastructure subcontractor environment
  • Experience of negotiating terms, frameworks, and supplier performance
  • Excellent supplier relationship skills
  • Strong commercial judgement and attention to detail
  • Strong Excel skills for tracking, analysis, and reconciliation
