Job summary

Butler Rose Ltd is representing a manufacturing organisation seeking a Procurement Category Manager on a 15-month maternity cover contract. You will own key categories, build strategic supplier relationships and drive measurable commercial and operational improvements in a busy manufacturing environment.

You will manage category strategies, supplier onboarding, RFQ/RFP processes, and negotiations to secure best value while collaborating with Procurement, Supply Chain, Operations, Manufacturing,

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years procurement experience within a manufacturing or complex operational environment.
• Strong experience across strategic sourcing, supplier management and commercial negotiation.
• Proven track record delivering cost savings and improvements.
• Experience managing supplier performance and developing supplier relationships.
• Strong understanding of procurement, inventory and supply chain processes.
• Experience with ERP/MRP systems.
• Strong analytical skills with procurement data and KPI dashboards.
• Strong Excel skills; Power BI desirable.
• Ability to influence stakeholders across multiple functions.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement category strategies aligned with business objectives.
• Identify, evaluate and onboard new suppliers.
• Lead RFQ, RFP and tender processes.
• Negotiate pricing, rebates, payment terms and contracts.
• Establish fixed-term pricing to manage cost volatility.
• Monitor market trends to identify opportunities and risks.
• Deliver measurable cost savings and value improvements.
• Develop and maintain strategic supplier relationships.
• Manage supplier performance across cost, quality, service and delivery.
• Lead supplier business reviews and performance assessments.
• Develop supplier scorecards, KPIs and reporting.
• Develop and manage VMI arrangements with strategic suppliers.
• Support supply continuity through supplier planning and risk mitigation.
• Support S&OP through supplier collaboration.
• Use data to identify risks and opportunities.
• Cross-functionally resolve supply challenges and drive improvements.
• Provide clear commercial information to senior stakeholders.
