Job summary

Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council is seeking a Planning Policy Officer to help shape growth and development across the borough. You will join a small, experienced team, contributing to the Local Plan and policy documents while engaging with communities and stakeholders.

The role focuses on policy development, data analysis, and delivering sustainable places. 37 hours per week, permanent contract, Castle House, Newcastle-under-Lyme, with a competitive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Experience in developing planning policy documents and evidence gathering.
• Ability to analyse data and engage with stakeholders.
• Strong time management and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation, monitoring and review of planning policy documents, including the local plan.
• Undertake research, data analysis and evidence gathering to support planning policy development.
• Monitor housing, employment and other planning-related data and prepare reports.
• Respond to consultations and represent the Council at stakeholder meetings and public engagement events.
• Prepare reports, briefing notes, committee reports and consultation materials.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues, elected Members, developers and communities.
• Contribute to delivery of corporate priorities through planning policy and place-making initiatives.
