Job summary

West of England Mayoral Combined Authority is seeking an exceptional Planning Policy Lead to drive the development, examination and adoption of the region's Spatial Development Strategy, with close collaboration with the Mayor, local authorities and national partners.

This is a high-profile role requiring strategic planning expertise, political awareness and strong leadership to deliver housing, infrastructure and growth in a fast-growing region.

Qualifications

• Membership of the RTPI and significant experience in planning policy and strategy.
• Experience leading strategic planning or spatial policy programmes.
• Ability to influence senior stakeholders and build consensus across boundaries.
• Experience managing complex programmes with multiple partners.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of the West of England Spatial Development Strategy.
• Direct the evidence base, consultation programme and policy development process.
• Engage with government departments and statutory agencies.
• Build consensus across four local authorities and partners.
• Lead a high-performing team of planning professionals.
