Job summary

West of England Combined Authority is seeking an exceptional Planning Policy Lead to drive the Spatial Development Strategy and advise senior leaders on strategic planning issues.

You will work directly with the Mayor, local authority leaders and government departments to shape housing, infrastructure and growth across the region, delivering sustainable, inclusive development with a strong emphasis on collaboration and delivery.

Qualifications

• Substantial experience leading strategic planning or spatial policy programmes.

Responsibilities

• Lead the preparation of the West of England Spatial Development Strategy.
• Direct the evidence base, consultation programme and policy development process.
• Build productive partnerships across local government, national government, infrastructure providers and the development sector.
• Lead engagement with political leaders and senior stakeholders on complex issues.
• Guide the SDS through examination and adoption.
• Support delivery of regional priorities across housing, regeneration, transport and economic development.
