Job summary

West of England Mayor is seeking an exceptional Planning Policy Lead to drive the region’s Spatial Development Strategy, shaping housing, infrastructure and growth over the next 30 years. You will lead a high-profile programme, collaborate with local and national partners, and build a capable team to deliver sustainable, inclusive growth across the West of England.

You will work closely with the Mayor, senior politicians and authorities to translate strategic objectives into policy and actions

Qualifications

• Experience leading strategic planning or spatial policy programmes.
• Ability to influence senior stakeholders and build consensus across organisations.
• Strong political awareness and relationship-building skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development, examination and adoption of the SDS.
• Direct the evidence base, consultation programme and policy development process.
• Build partnerships across local and national government, infrastructure providers and the development sector.
• Guide the SDS through examination and adoption.
• Support delivery of housing, regeneration, transport, climate and economic priorities.
