Job summary

West of England Mayor is seeking an exceptional Chief of Staff to lead the Mayor’s Office and translate devolved ambition into deliverable action. You will act as the Mayor’s principal strategic adviser, shaping priorities, coordinating policy, public affairs, communications and engagement with government, partners and communities.

Reporting to the Mayor and working closely with the Chief Executive and Directors, you will build high-performing teams, provide candid, evidence-led advice, and

• Track record of turning complex ambitions into tangible outcomes.
• Ability to build influential relationships across government, public services, business and civic institutions.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and managing political environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Mayor’s Office, providing trusted strategic advice and direction.
• Coordinate policy, public affairs, communications and engagement with government partners and communities.
• Ensure priorities are translated into credible, coordinated and deliverable actions with strong governance.
• Support line management and executive support across the Mayor’s Office and Directors.
