Job summary

University of Oxford is seeking a Head of Planning within the Planning and Council Secretariat to lead strategy, planning and performance activities across the university. The role coordinates across divisions and services to align planning with financial processes and university objectives.

The postholder will work with senior colleagues, influence planning across academic and professional services, and report to the Director of PACS as part of the senior leadership team.

Qualifications

  • Degree or equivalent experience.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement strategic plans.
  • Experience working across finance, estates and academic planning functions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; able to present to committees.
  • Experience leading a professional team to deliver complex work on tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Lead across the PACS portfolio including university-level strategy, planning and performance measurement.
  • Coordinate planning activities with financial planning processes and outcomes.
  • Collaborate with senior colleagues (PVCs, CFO, Registrar) and planning leads across divisions.
  • Ensure alignment of student numbers, estates, digital planning and resource allocation.
  • Provide coherent analysis and narrative to inform organisational planning.
  • Represent and influence planning discussions at senior leadership level.
