Job summary

The Royal Borough of Greenwich is seeking motivated Planning Officers to join the Strategic Development Team in Woolwich, London. You will manage a varied caseload of major and strategic planning applications, including large residential, mixed-use and regeneration schemes, helping to deliver high-quality, sustainable development.

Applicants should have a degree in Town Planning (or related) and may be working towards MRTPI.

Qualifications

Degree in Town Planning or related discipline or equivalent experience.
MRTPI membership desirable.
Knowledge of UK planning legislation, policy and procedures.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Organised with ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines.
Customer-focused with a proactive, solution-oriented approach.

Responsibilities

Assess and determine complex major planning applications and pre-application proposals.
Provide clear, professional advice to developers, agents, and internal stakeholders.
Lead on negotiations to secure high-quality design, planning obligations, and policy compliance.
Prepare detailed committee reports and present applications to Planning Committee.
Collaborate with planning, regeneration, transport and infrastructure teams.
Contribute to delivery of boroughs' strategic regeneration objectives.
Engage effectively with the public, councillors and stakeholders.
